Kevin Bata

President of Operations/Founder

With over 22 years of hands-on experience in the directional drilling industry, Kevin Bata brings a legacy of excellence, deep-rooted technical knowledge, and strong leadership to Midtown Underground. As a third-generation in the industry, Kevin’s journey began at just 13 years old, working alongside his grandfather in Mississippi. From those early days, he learned the values that still guide him today: hard work, precision, and most importantly—quality.

One principle has remained constant throughout his career: “Quality keeps the contract.”Passed down from his grandfather, this motto has become more than a saying—it’s the standard Kevin has built Midtown Underground upon. Every project, every crew, and every client relationship is shaped by this unwavering commitment to quality, accountability, and doing the job right the first time.

Kevin’s career path is one of true progression. Once his grandpa retired, Kevin decided to move to Texas to be closer with his family. His move marked a new chapter—professionally and personally. He worked at several utility companies working his way up through the ranks, gaining valuable experience and and hundreds of connections. This ultimatley led to founding Midtown Underground with his brother to create a company rooted in trust, integrity, and family values.

As President of Operations, Kevin is involved in nearly every aspect of the business on a daily basis. He starts each morning by checking in with his crews, reviewing job progress, safety plans, and scheduling to ensure everything is on track. He personally oversees equipment coordination, makes job site visits, and provides real-time guidance to foremen and drill operators when complex challenges arise. Whether it's a horizontal bore under a highway or a tight-access trench job, Kevin’s field experience and decision-making are invaluable assets. Kevin also handles high-level project planning, customer communication, and bid management. He works closely with general contractors and developers, walking sites, reviewing blueprints, and making sure that Midtown Underground delivers exactly what’s needed—on time and within scope. He’s often the one clients see in the field, ensuring that expectations are met and exceeded. Beyond field operations, Kevin collaborates with his brother Brandon on strategic decisions, hiring, training, and long-term growth planning. He helps maintain crew morale, fosters a culture of respect and accountability, and leads by example every single day.

Under Kevin’s leadership, Midtown Underground has grown into a respected name in the DFW area and beyond, earning the trust of general contractors, municipalities, and developers through consistent delivery and a strong work ethic. He takes pride in mentoring the next generation of drillers, carrying on his family’s legacy while setting new standards in underground utility installation.

Outside of work, Kevin is deeply grounded in his faith and is a proud member of the Cowboy Church in Ennis. He also enjoys working out, hiking, camping ans spending time with his family, and riding his motorcycle whenever he gets the chance. His personal life reflects the same values he brings to the business—faith, discipline, and dedication

Brandon Bata

Finance Manager/co-founder

That experience sparked Brandon’s entrepreneurial journey. Over the years, he launched multiple eCommerce ventures, including dietary supplements and subscription box services. He gained valuable insight into digital marketing, financial planning, logistics, and customer experience—eventually expanding into Amazon FBA and online product distribution. These business ventures sharpened his skills in organization, budgeting, and systems management—laying the groundwork for his role at Midtown Underground.

 Today, that same business acumen translates directly into Midtown Underground’s operations—including the development and management of the company’s online store. Brandon has helped build out the store as a reflection of the brand’s identity and work culture, offering gear, branded apparel, and other merchandise that extends the Midtown name beyond the job site.

 When Kevin founded Midtown, Brandon recognized an opportunity to bring his experience and structure into the family business. He stepped in to lead the company’s financial operations, and today, he oversees budgeting, invoicing, payroll, taxes, business administration, and all internal systems. He also manages utility locate coordination, permitting, and paperwork to keep projects running smoothly and compliantly.

 Brandon's strength lies in his ability to bring order to complexity. His blend of business acumen and family commitment has played a major role in Midtown’s stability and rapid growth. He approaches every challenge with a long-term mindset—focused on sustainability, smart scaling, and building a legacy company with deep roots and strong values.

 Outside of work, Brandon is grounded in his faith and enjoys quality time with his wife and kids. He’s passionate about fitness, hiking, the outdoors, and unwinding with a good cigar. Whether he’s in the office or with family, Brandon lives by faith, purpose, and integrity

Jacob Loveless

Safety Manager/Supervisor

Cousin to Kevin and Brandon, Jacob is a proud member of the same hardworking family legacy. He brings years of experience, and a strong safety-first mindset to Midtown Underground. As a lifelong tradesman, Jacob began his journey in Mississippi, working alongside his Cousin Kevin in their Grandfather's utility business. From a young age, he developed a deep respect for the craft, the people in the field, and the importance of doing things the right way.

 Once his Grandpa retired, Jacob moved from Mississippi to Texas to pursue a career in the oil field. When Kevin launched Midtown Underground, Jacob saw not just a business—but a vision worth getting behind. Driven by family values, a commitment to quality, and a return to the roots they all came from, Jacob made the decision to bring his knowledge and energy into the Midtown full time.

As Field Supervisor and Safety Coordinator, Jacob plays a key role in ensuring that each project runs smoothly, efficiently, and—most importantly—safely. He helps oversee day-to-day field operations and reports any concerns back to Kevin. He helps monitor job site compliance, and fosters a culture where safety is not just a checklist, but a shared responsibility. His hands-on approach and calm leadership make him a trusted figure among crew members and clients alike.

 Jacob’s presence on the team reflects what Midtown Underground is all about: family, integrity, and getting the job done right. His dedication, discipline, and no-nonsense attitude continue to strengthen the company’s mission and reinforce its commitment to quality.

 When he’s not on the job site, Jacob enjoys spending time outdoors, spending time with his twin boys and staying connected to the family traditions that first sparked his passion for the trade.
